I was born in 1960 in Santiago of Chile in a happy and loving family. My path towards ‘spiritual awakening‘ started when I was 13 years old. I had an accident and almost died. This experience completely changed my view on life. From then on, my search to find answers to ‘what was life all about’ became the motivation in my life. Because of that, I became more and more interested in religion, philosophy, arts, physical experiences, cultures and in how people lived in different parts of the world. Travelling became part of my second nature.
After finishing school, I studied Graphic Design, a study that would help me make a living, so I could continue exploring and travelling. It was on one of my journeys to Peru, in the beginning of 1981, that I met my future husband. He was from Holland and had just arrived in South America. Even though we didn’t speak each other’s language, we felt very confident and very soon we decided to live our lives together in Chile. In 1983, I became pregnant with Sol our son. By that time, we had already moved to Amsterdam. I always wanted to study Art, so very soon after, in 1986, I attended the Rietveld Academy. We were a young happy family!
